Holidays/Workdays!

Fourth of July '08 View from the Porch
Kris, the farmer, out swathing. One of the reasons we don't have the two houses on the far right of the hill finished yet is because we have NO TIME --- There are too many projects going on.
Here's a list of Kris' chores:
  • sell some tires
  • boss a whole bunch of people around
  • finish spec #1 house
  • finish spec #2 house
  • finish truck shop
  • finish vacuum pump water trucks
  • finish getting shower trailers ready
  • finish getting water trucks ready
  • find somebody to drive shower and water trucks
  • sell some MORE tires
  • water / cut / bale fields (I think we've got someone to haul it!)
  • kiss his wife and eat his dinner and play with his kids!!!

Okay - there's probably a LOT more things to do, but this list is making me tired - and I even left off BISHOP.

We didn't really get a holiday yesterday. Except for the fireworks at 10:30 pm, it was a day like every other day. But I guess a day like any other day here is better than a day like any other day in Iraq, or China, or pretty much anywhere else (except maybe HAWAII! I just found 98 acres for a good price - but after looking at this list I might be too tired to think about building ANOTHER house. Besides, Salmon, Idaho is a pretty great place to live, even if you DO have to work every single day of your life and there is no surfing or Whale Watching activities here.) The new truck shop: It still needs garage doors and the two story apartment/office finished. (Sam's plans are to turn it into his dream game station den!) Building Code writers are full of Bull Cr-p --- they'll accept an aluminum pull down attic ladder over the stairs we built (which follow LAST year's code but not THIS year's code - the plan's were okay'd LAST year --- but, like I said --- Code writers are idiots. Oh, no, that's not what I said ---they're full of you know what!)

The new vacuum water trailer and tractor which Kris spent his holiday on --- It's headed to the oil fields on Monday.

The Garden: We put a new 6' fence around it this year to try and keep the wildlife out. I think it's looking pretty good considering our weather was so poor this spring (we went directly from Winter to Summer during the second week in June!) The Garden space is about 35' x 60'.
